Smithsonian's National Air & Space Museum Annex -- 5.7 miles south/southwest of Finetre.

This museum, named the "Steven F. Udvar-Hazy Center," is south of Dulles Airport’s runways and is actually on secure airport grounds; its 164-foot tall, 360-degree observation tower offers stunning views of Dulles air traffic and the surrounding area. Admission is free; public parking is $12. The museum contains over 80 historic aircraft, including the space shuttle Enterprise and an SR-71 Blackbird. The museum also offers an IMAX® theater, several flight simulators, tours, and a food court. For more information, click here, or call (202) 633-1000.

Sully Plantation – 6.3 miles south of Finetre

Built in 1794 by Richard Bland Lee (uncle to General Robert E. Lee and contemporary of our first President George Washington), the buildings of historic Sully Plantation are about 6 miles south of Finetre. If you want to change the pace of your visit to Northern Virginia, visit this charming home. Saved from demolition in 1960 (Dulles Airport is directly on the other side of Rt. 28), Sully is now maintained by the Fairfax County Park Authority. Sully is open everyday except Tuesday 11 am to 4 pm; admission is $5/adult and includes a guided tour of the house every hour on the hour; there is no charge to stroll the grounds. Special events such as historical re-enactments and candlelight tours take place periodically. For more information, click here, or call (703) 437-1794.
